December 9th, 2009 · Announcements

Hi Scour Fans,

We just got notice that OneRiot, our Realtime search partner has partnered with MySpace giving OneRiot to access to their user content and updates.

This means that when you search for a keyword and you see our “real time” results, you will be seeing popular links based of of a series of social media sites including that of Twitter, Digg and now MySpace. Remember, to sort by “Realtime” results, just click the pink OneRiot logo above your search results.

Facebook and Yahoo Get Busy

December 7th, 2009 · Announcements

Hey Scour Fans,

We recently read about how Facebook and Yahoo are planning to work more closely in the future and wanted to keep you in the loop!

According to MediaPost, the two companies are entering a partnership that will allow Yahoo users to “share activity updates and content with each other” through the use of Facebook connect.

As for Yahoo users, they will be able to “see friends’ Facebook activities in “Yahoo Updates,” via new tabs that plan to be integrated into Yahoo’s web portal.

It is exciting to see how search and social networking is coming together and look forward to being able to offer these same type of features in the future.

We look forward to the integration of the partnership and can’t wait to try it out.

Twilight, Twilight, Twilight

November 17th, 2009 · Announcements

Hey Scour Fans!

As you may have seen already, we launched a new “Popular Right Now” feature on Scour’s new homepage. This helps us and our users keep track of what is “Popular” and what is being searched for on Scour’s network with the most frequency.

So far this week we have noticed that some of the most popular searches are of the insanely famous series of “Twilight.”

We have a huge following at our office who enjoy the series and have a supernatural obsession with the characters as exhibited by the shots of their desks below…

They all keep up to date with all the “New Moon” and “Twilight” chatter through OneRiot’s Realtime search integration on Scour.

To get the latest from Twitter and Digg, simply conduct a search on Scour and look for the Twitter and Digg Icons, which indicate that “Realtime” search results.

Enjoy!

Scour Is Skyrocketing!

October 8th, 2009 · Announcements

Hey Scour Community,

The past few days have been truly exciting. We are seeing tremendous amounts of traffic coming our way and as a result we are needing to upgrade some of our hardware!

We are looking forward to these improvements and it will allow us to grow exponentially over the next few months.

During this upgrade, we do expect a few random hiccups but overall we should be back up to speed within a few weeks.

Thanks for hanging in there,

The Evolution of Search Since the 1990s

September 15th, 2009 · Interesting Scour findings

So we recently came across a fun blog post on SixRevisions.com which compares the changes that some of the earlier search engines have undergone over the past 10 years…can you believe how long it’s been!?

So take a look at the post here, it’s always fun to see the evolution of search engines as time passes. Our favorite old search engine design is Hotbot.com with their neon green background…what were they thinking?

With less than 2 years under our belt, we have already undergone a few changes to our homepage since our launch in 2008 and are looking forward to seeing what our site will look like in another 1 - 2 years from now.

If you have thoughts or ideas on what Scour will or should look like in the future, feel free to submit a .jpg or your description to support@scour.com.

Thanks,
Team Scour
